Pre-Calculus (Honors) (Period 1)

Course Description

Because functions are the foundation of calculus, students explore the elementary functions.  In the first semester they find patterns and characteristics for polynomial, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions as well as their properties and graphs.  Some topics on probability, mathematical induction, calculus, and analytic geometry are discussed. The second semester of trigonometry covers topics such as trigonometric functions and their graphs, solving right and oblique triangles, proving identities, inverse trigonometric functions, and complex numbers.  Homework assignments are complex and require independent study.
