ART I

Art I is a foundational course designed as an introduction for beginning art students. Students will have the opportunity to experience a variety of media and styles. This is a hands-on class that introduces art history, art criticism, aesthetic judgment and studio production. The curriculum emphasizes the ability to understand and use the elements of art and principles of design through a variety of media, processes and visual resources. Students explore master artworks for historical and cultural significance. This is a single semester course.

ART II

This course enhances skills in art production, art history, and aesthetic judgment. It provides opportunities for in-depth application of the elements of art and principles of design in two-and three-dimensional art media and process. This is a single semester course.

YEARBOOK

Yearbook is journalistic in nature and allows students to participate in the production of the school yearbook, The Aquinian. Students will learn about layout design and fit copy, caption writing, sales, advertisements, and basic photography skills. Students will also have the opportunity to accept leadership positions and develop new skills as they build the yearbook. Students will be required to sell ads as part of their grade.
