PHYSICAL EDUCATION
HEALTH
Students will recognize the significance of lifestyle on health and understand how individual decisions they make have an impact on their health. Students will study all six components of health including physical, emotional, social, mental, spiritual, and environmental. In addition, students will earn the ADAP Certification required for a Class D driver’s license in Georgia. This is a single semester course.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Physical Education is designed to be a recreational experience that will provide students with the tools to develop an individual optimum level of physical fitness, while also acquiring knowledge of physical fitness concepts such as flexibility, cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, and muscular endurance. This is a single semester course.
LIFE FITNESS
Students will gain experience in weightlifting, flexibility, and agility, while focusing on muscle development and the prevention of injury through physical training and exercise. This is a single semester course.
TEAM SPORTS
Students will study the history, rules, strategies, and fundamental skills associated with popular team sports played in the United States. The team sports studied may include football, basketball, soccer, baseball, and lacrosse, to name a few. In addition, students will explore the principles of sportsmanship and display these attributes in all areas. Physical activity and participation is expected. This is a single semester course.
OUTDOOR EDUCATION
This course will emphasize working together through adventure education activities. Trust and communication are stressed throughout the course. Units may include: biking, kayaking, rappelling, camping skills, outdoor cooking, wilderness survival, team initiatives, leadership, and Leave-No-Trace environmental education.This is a single semester course.
