Electives for 2026-2027 School Year
Your child has space for an elective for the 2026-2027 school year. We have provided course descriptions for you to review for each option. Please complete the form below to indicate what your student’s first and second choice is.
Art I & II– Art is a foundational course designed as an introduction for beginning art students. Students will have the opportunity to experience a variety of media and styles.
Functional Fitness– This isn’t your basic weightlifting. This class is especially designed for students interested in their overall fitness. The course will include cardio, strength training, and diet.
Life Fitness– Students will gain experience in weightlifting, flexibility, and agility, while focusing on muscle development and the prevention of injury through physical training and exercise.
Introduction to Computers– This foundational course bridges the gap between casual tablet use and the rigorous secondary education computing skills required for a college preparatory environment. Students will master hardware troubleshooting and the “help desk” mindset while developing professional fluency in data analysis via Google Sheets, file organization, and the ethical application of AI as a tool. A core focus on personal operational security (OpSec) ensures students navigate the web safely while building a reputable digital footprint for future college recruiters. By the end of the semester, students will possess a competitive edge in digital literacy and a foundational spark in logic and coding, perfectly positioning them for success in our AP Computer Science and Cybersecurity courses.
AP Computer Science Principles– AP Computer Science Principles introduces students to the foundational concepts of computer science and challenges them to explore how computing and technology can impact the world. With a unique focus on creative problem solving and real-world applications, AP Computer Science Principles prepares students for college and career. (Prerequisite: Algebra I)
AP Cybersecurity– This course is a premier, college-level program that transforms students into digital defenders by mastering defense-in-depth strategies across networks, devices, and global infrastructure. Aligned with the industry-standard NICE Workforce Framework, you will learn to analyze complex risks, implement protective mitigations, and detect sophisticated attacks—all while leveraging AI as a powerful collaborative tool to solve real-world security challenges.
